Riding Lessons FAQ's
What is true Natural Horsemanship?
True Natural Horsemanship is not just hopping in the saddle and learning how to hang one. Although, it is how you become an expert rider. It's a gentle, beginner-friendly way to build a relationship with horses based on trust and communication. Instead of using force or fear, it teaches you how to understand a horse’s body language and instincts, and respond with calm clear cues. It includes learning the natural instincts and abilities of your equine friend.
What ages and skills?
Beginners ages 8and up. We tailor each session to the rider’s comfort, skill and confidence level. If your nervous about beginning your lessons, your in the right place. Our approach is gentle, patient, and grounded in natural horsemanship. Move along at your own pace.

We also have a special program for younger riders ages 5 to 7 who loves horses.
How long is each lesson and what is the cost?
Each lesson is 1 hour long and the cost is $40/lesson.
What do I wear?
Long pants or leggings, hard sole closed-toe shoes with a small heel, and weather-appropriate layers. Avoid tennis shoes, sandals, shorts, or loose jewelry.
What about riding helmets?
Safety First—For every rider’s safety, certified riding equestrian helmets are a must. We recommend purchasing your own so you get the best fit and feel.
Where can I order my equipment?
You are free to buy your helmet or riding boots anywhere you like. Here's the link to our favorites on Amazon. If you have any specific questions, let us know. We will be happy to answer them.
Do parents need to stay?
For riders under 16, we kindly ask that a parent or guardian stay on-site for the full duration of the lesson. While we take great care to create a safe and fun environment, horses are powerful animals—and even with the best precautions, accidents can happen.
Having a trusted adult nearby not only ensures safety, but also gives you a chance to cheer your rider on and witness their progress firsthand. It’s a meaningful part of the experience, and we’re grateful for your partnership.
Can I reschedule a lesson?
Yes! While we don’t offer refunds, you’re welcome to reschedule any lesson.
What if the weather is bad?
We reserve the right to reschedule lessons due to bad weather (rain, storms, extreme heat).
Where are lessons held?
All riding lessons take place at Bull Mt. Farm, located at:
596 Tincher Hill Rd, Beattyville, KY 41311
Our favorite piece of dirt. You'll love it here too!
Who is the instructor?
All lessons are taught by our Eagala Certified Equine-Assisted Coach, Carrie Cornett. She's very much a believer in the natural horsemanship approach with emotional awareness, creating a safe and rewarding space for every rider and horse.
Is there a weight limit?
Yes—for the safety of our horses and riders, we have a weight limit of 250 lbs for mounted activities. This helps ensure a comfortable, balanced experience for both horse and rider, and protects the long-term health of our equine partners.
If you’re unsure or have questions, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to talk through options and make sure everyone feels welcome and supported.
